Rooted Recipe Series: Gin Cocktail Edition

As you know, we love to share recipes. There are few activities we enjoy more than creating delicious and beautiful delights with local ingredients. We also have so many incredible products that can be used in many different ways, and so, we decided to take the plunge and provide you with a new Rooted Recipe Series: Gin Cocktail Edition.

We have used a sampling of our favourite syrup and drink offerings to craft your own professional quality libations at home, and encourage you to opt for local products wherever you can in this process. (Spoiler alert, they are just as good as mocktails, feel free to experiment!)

Without further ado, introducing Rooted Recipe Series: Gin Cocktail Edition, featuring Sheringham Distillery's Seaside Gin, keeping things local as we do.

BCLR's G&B

We didn't overcomplicate this one. We switched out the classic tonic for 'booch', and found this perfect in its simplicity. G&B just might be our new classic.

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

  1. Select glassware.
  2. Measure Gin.
  3. Add lime juice.
  4. Top with kombucha.
  5. Garnish to your heart's content.
  6. Enjoy!

BCLR's Botanical Gin Fizz

The gorgeous colour of this vibrant cocktail comes from the good-for-you Elderberry Syrup (our obsession) from Elderberry Grove Farm. We used lemon instead of lime to compliment the elderberry flavour, and are asking for a friend if this is considered a health drink...? Either way we are feeling great about it.

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

  1. Select glassware.
  2. Fill with ice.
  3. Fill a shaker with ice, adding gin, lemon juice, and elderberry syrup. If adding lavender or additional syrup to taste add these as well, and shake!
  4. Strain over fresh ice in glass.
  5. Top with soda water.
  6. Stir, and garnish, we chose a lemon wheel for a bright colour pop and to accentuate the lemon flavour.

BCLR's Super Gin Punch

Elevating your favourite childhood flavours is quickly becoming one of our favourite pastimes. We had fun with this one (as evidenced by the berry stained hands). It feels nostalgic and fun, not too sour or sweet, and works perfectly with gin if you wish to add some spirit. Sip, sip, hooray!

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

  1. Select glassware.
  2. Fill with ice.
  3. Measure gin, lemon juice, lime juice, and cordial, build over ice
  4. Top with soda water or tonic according to your preference.
  5. Stir, and garnish, the more fruit the better the flavour and appearance!
  6. Sit back, and enjoy this sweet moment.

Please share any of your creations or variations with us, and let us know what great local ingredients and spirits you are using when playing bartender at home. Cheers!
