Andrea Gray-Grant, Founder and CEO
Andrea is a teacher, coach and mentor with 26 years experience in the food and beverage industry and has worked at a senior level of sales and marketing for iconic natural and organic food brands in Canada and the US. She has launched her own product line, built a manufacturing plant and co-packed for numerous local, well-loved brands. She pivoted from manufacturing 9 years ago to coaching, and founded Good to Grow, a company that educates BC Food and Beverage brands to be successful in competitive market channels. Through Good to Grow she hosts an annual, juried trade show to introduce many of those emerging BC brands. As Founder and CEO of BCLocalRoot.ca, her dream is for the Company to be a catalyst for change – moving food systems towards truly supporting local.
Lydia Taylor, CFO
Lydia brings a rich background in entrepreneurship and leadership development to her role as CFO of BCLocalRoot.ca. Having 20+ years experience as a senior executive in the biotech sector and as a business consultant, Lydia is helping with more than just finance. She is a strategist and solver who is passionate about supporting local social businesses, and their people, reach their highest potential. Lydia has focused her career on ventures that contribute to people’s health, well-being, and happiness. Her formal education includes a BSc, BEd, MSc in Genetics, and MBA.
Meghan Carter, Marketing Manager
Meghan’s multidisciplinary academic background in Environmental Geography and Sustainable Business give her a unique perspective when approaching her role as Marketing Manager for BCLocalRoot.ca. She is passionate about helping local businesses who are creating a positive impact in their communities, and enjoys thinking critically and creatively about the different ways in which small businesses can be successful while also doing “good”. Her experience in environmental research projects, community engagement, and event planning has provided Meghan with strong leadership, communication, and problem solving skills. She approaches her work with curiosity, compassion, and determination.
Laura Hernandez, Business Administrator
Laura was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to Vancouver in 2017. She graduated in Hotel and Food & Beverage Management and has a 12-year career in the hotel industry. Laura has worked and traveled throughout the Dominican Republic, the U.S., Spain, Italy and France - where she developed her passion for food. Laura is intrigued by the science behind food, specifically, how it affects people's health. When she is not working, you can find her in the kitchen trying new recipes or reading a book related to nutrition. As Business Administrator for BCLocalRoot.ca Laura ensures the team and books are always organized.
